Law Enforcement

Law enforcement, also known as police, is one of the components of most Sheriff’s Offices in the US. It is usually the highest profile division in most departments.

Jail/Corrections

Operating a Jail, or correctional facility, is a statutory requirement for Sheriff’s Offices. It is the only required division, but most provide other services like patrol.

Civil

A Civil division is a less known aspect of a Sheriff’s Office and is not a required service but many provide the services. Civil divisions serve legal papers, such as evictions in the county.

911/Disaster Management

Not all Sheriff’s Offices include 911 centers (PSAPs) or Disaster Management divisions. In Monroe County, these are separate agencies in the county.
